So, I was training for and planning on running the Red Nose Half Marathon this past weekend. Georgia weather threw a monkey wrench into my plans. I finished my last long run 2 weeks ago and I was ready to go.
It was slow, there was some walking but I got it done and before the Christmas holidays. I was super proud of myself, just for getting up early and tackling it. So I was ready for race day. Then the wonderful Georgia weather happened. We had a forecast of .25-.5 inch of ice plus 3+ inches of snow. I waited to make the call until Friday night. I didn’t want to spend the extra cash and get a hotel room when it’s a closer race to my house.
So with this being the forecast and my house right in the middle of that dark purple ice blob, I felt like it was too risky for me to try and drive down Saturday morning. I had several friends that I was going to carpool with and we all decided to stay home, warm, dry and safe. If you were already in Columbus (southwest of my house), you were fine but we weren’t sure we could get there.
So in true Georgia form, the weather wasn’t as bad on the southside as predicted. Maybe I could have gotten there, maybe I couldn’t but it’s ok. I am a little bummed that I did run. So I escaped for a run with one of my besties. We got 6 miles done on Sunday just to get out and move.
Now on to the next adventure. . .
